Hi There,
I am a Social Justice and Peace Studies student at Kings University College at the University of Western Ontario.
During Febuary 15- Febuary 25, 2009, I took part in a Social Justice delegation that went to the Dominican Republic for the purpose of investigating its poverty and Haitian-Dominican relations.
While visiting a batey, I met a 23 year old Haitian male who is working in the batey in hopes of saving enough money to put himself through school. I am still in contact with this young man and am trying to find an organization that will sponsor his schooling.
However, I have little direction in this matter and am at a loss for where to go.
Would you know of any Haitian advocacy groups working within the Dominican or any organization that could help me?
Thank you for your anticpiated response. Any direction you could provide me with is appriciated.

Thanks, Kaleigh, for writing and trying to help!
If anybody knows of a good organization or church-based program that is working with these Hatian workers in the Dominican Republic, please share with the reader of this site.
In our part, we have a contact who goes to the Dominican Republic every quarter. He is an agronomist who works with some major tomato growers down there. If we receive more info about this young man, we may locate him and offer him some help if more people want to contribute to send him to school.
We are sure that Kaleigh would not mind sharing his info so he can get the aid he needs.”
